What's the difference between Studio and Retreat?
| Studio | Retreat |
| Walls | 50 mm PIR boards | 100 mm rockwool |
| Floor and roof | 50 mm PIR boards | 150 mm rockwool |
| Structure | Solid, slimmer walls | Heavier, stronger build, thicker walls |
| Feels like | A warm room you use all year | Close to a well-built house: warmer and quieter |
| Roof overhang | 0.8 m | 1.5 m |
| Cladding | Stained pine as standard on both, red cedar as an upgrade |
Is the base included?
No, the base is quoted separately, because every garden is different. Depending on your ground it might be concrete blocks, ground screws or proper groundworks. If you already have a level concrete slab or similar, you may not need anything at all. I'll check on the free site visit and add it to your written quote.
How accurate is the online price?
It's worked out from real builds, so it's a good guide. The final price is fixed in writing after a free site visit, once I've seen the ground, access and power supply.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. Rooms are kept under 2.5 m high to stay within permitted development. Listed buildings, flats and conservation areas have different rules, and I'll flag it at the site visit.
What about electrics?
Sockets, switches and lighting are included, ready to connect to your house supply. If a trench is needed for the cable, that's quoted separately.
How long is my quote valid?
A written quote holds for 30 days. After that I'll re-check material prices before confirming.
Can I change my mind after signing?
Yes. If you sign at home or online you have 14 days to cancel. If you ask me to start inside those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for work done and materials ordered up to that point.
What guarantee do I get?
A 12-month workmanship warranty from handover, plus the manufacturers' guarantees on doors, glazing and materials, passed on to you.
Which areas do you cover?
Burton upon Trent and around, including Derby, Lichfield, Tamworth and Swadlincote, and further for the right job.
